You can download a Rutube video on a phone right in the mobile browser, with no downloader apps and no computer. The Rutube app has an offline mode, but it keeps the video inside the app: you cannot send it in a messenger, open it in the gallery or move it to another phone. The link from the Rutube app
The first step is always the same: get the video's address.
- In the Rutube app. Open the video, tap "Share" under the player and choose "Copy link". In the Shorts feed the "Share" button sits to the right of the clip. You get an address of the form
rutube.ru/video/<id>/orrutube.ru/shorts/<id>/. - In the mobile browser. Tap the address bar, select the address and copy it.
- From a messenger. Press and hold the link and choose "Copy". If the chat truncated it, copy the link from Rutube again.
A Rutube video ID is 32 characters long. Copy the whole address; the tail after ? can stay.
Download Rutube videos on Android: step by step
Downloading Rutube videos on Android is free in any browser; the order is the same for Chrome, Yandex Browser and Samsung Internet.
- Copy the video link in the Rutube app via "Share" → "Copy link".
- Open the browser and go to the Rutube page on Skachok.
- Tap the "Paste" button next to the field. Allow clipboard access if the browser asks; a long press on the field and "Paste" works too.
- Tap "Find". A card appears with a preview, the title and quality buttons, each with an approximate file size.
- Pick a quality and tap "Download". On the free plan an 8-second timer runs first, then the server assembles the file and the browser shows a download notification.
Keep the tab open while the file is being assembled: Android may unload a background tab and you will have to start over. Once the download itself has begun, the system download manager handles it in the background.
Where the file is on Android and how to see it in the gallery
The browser puts the video into the Download folder in internal storage. You can find it in the browser's own download list (in Chrome, the three-dot menu → "Downloads"), in the "Files" app ("My Files" on Samsung), or in the gallery.
On most phones the gallery scans Download by itself and shows the video within a few seconds. If you cannot see it:
- open "Files", find the video in
Downloadand play it; the gallery usually indexes it after that; - on some skins, for example older MIUI, the gallery only shows
DCIMandMovies: move the file toMoviesthrough "Files"; - make sure the download has finished; an unfinished file has the
.crdownloadextension.

Download from Rutube on an iPhone: Safari and Files
On an iPhone the path is slightly longer, but no computer is needed.
Copy the link in the Rutube app, open Safari, go to the Rutube page on Skachok, tap "Paste", then "Find". Pick a quality and tap "Download". Confirm Safari's download prompt; the arrow icon in the top right corner shows the progress.
The finished video sits in the "Files" app, in the "Downloads" folder. To save a Rutube video to the gallery: open "Files" → "Downloads", tap the video, then the "Share" icon and choose "Save Video". It appears in "Photos"; the copy in "Downloads" can then be deleted.
By default Safari's "Downloads" folder lives in iCloud Drive; switch it to the phone under "Settings" → "Safari" → "Downloads" → "On My iPhone". Chrome on iPhone downloads files too, but Safari is more predictable; more iOS details are in the iPhone guide.
Rutube Shorts on a phone
Tap "Share" next to the clip in the Shorts feed, copy the link and paste it into Skachok as usual. You get a vertical MP4 ready for a chat or a story.
If a rutube.ru/shorts/… link is not found, put the same ID into the regular address rutube.ru/video/<id>/: it is the same video, just opened from a different feed. Shorts go up to 1080p, like regular videos.
How much data it takes
On a phone the file size eats both mobile data and storage. A rough guide:

On a 6-inch screen 720p and 1080p look almost the same while the file is half the size, so 720p is the sweet spot for a phone, and it is free: 3 downloads a day without an account, 5 with a free account. Why the Rutube app's offline mode is not a file
The Rutube app can save a video for offline viewing. Handy on the road, but it is a cache inside the app, not a file: invisible in the gallery and in "Files", impossible to send to a friend, copy to a computer or open in another player, and gone when you sign out or reinstall the app. If you need a file that stays with you, only an MP4 download will do. Skachok keeps nothing on its side: the video is assembled on the server, handed to the browser, and the only copy is on your phone.
Several videos at once from a phone
If you need several episodes, paste the links one per line and tap "Download all videos". One batch takes up to 3 links free, 5 on Lite, 10 on Pro, 50 on Max, and each file counts against the daily limit. A handy trick: collect the links in "Notes" and paste the whole list at once.

What will not work
A live stream in progress cannot be downloaded, only its recording after the broadcast ends. Paid subscription-only videos and videos hidden by the author are not supported. Rutube does not serve anything above 1080p.
