Downloading video on Android is easier than on any other device: the phone has an open Downloads folder, and the browser saves files without asking too many questions. Yet the first thing search results suggest is installing yet another app from an APK. It asks for access to your files and notifications, takes up space and stops working after the next YouTube or TikTok update. None of that is necessary. Below is a method that needs nothing but a browser: copy the link, paste it into Skachok, tap "Download".
Why downloader apps are not worth installing
A video downloader on a phone does one job: find the direct address of the file on the platform and save it. Platforms change their delivery format several times a year, and every change breaks the installed app until the next version. If the developer is slow or has abandoned the project, the app stays useless.
An online service works differently: links are parsed on the server. When YouTube, VK or TikTok changes something, one place is updated and nothing breaks for users. And your phone does not get one more icon with access to your files. Skachok supports 25+ platforms and works in any Android browser.

How to download video on Android: step by step
The steps are written for Chrome, but Samsung Internet, Firefox and Yandex Browser look exactly the same.
- Copy the video link. In the platform's app, tap "Share" and choose "Copy link". In a browser, just copy the address from the bar.
- Open Chrome and go to Skachok. For a specific platform it is handier to open its page right away, for example YouTube or TikTok.
- Tap the link field and choose "Paste". Or tap the clipboard icon to the right of the field.
- Tap "Find". A card appears with a preview, duration and a list of qualities.
- Pick a quality. If you only need the sound, open the "Audio" block and choose MP3.
- Tap "Download". On the free plan an 8-second timer runs first, then the download starts.
Chrome shows a notification with the progress. When it changes to "Download complete", the file is in place. Tapping the notification opens the video in a player right away, and from there you can share it to a messenger or social network.
Where the file is saved and how to open it in the gallery
Every Android browser puts files into the "Download" folder in internal storage. There are three ways to find it:
- open the gallery: most gallery apps scan the Downloads folder and show a new video within a few seconds;
- open the "Files" app ("My Files" on Samsung) → "Downloads";
- in Chrome, tap the three-dot menu → "Downloads".
If the video does not show up in the gallery, open it once through "Files". The system then indexes the file, and it appears in the gallery and in video players. The file name matches the video title, so even among a hundred downloads the right one is easy to find.
You can change the save location. In Chrome: "Settings" → "Downloads" → "Download location". The same screen has an "Ask where to save files" toggle. If your phone has a memory card, you can pick it so internal storage does not fill up.
Links from apps: where to find "Copy link"
Every platform hides the button in its own place.
- YouTube. The "Share" button under the video, then "Copy link". For Shorts it is the same arrow to the right of the clip.
- TikTok. The "Share" arrow on the right, then "Copy link". You get a short
vm.tiktok.comlink; it works fine. - VK. The three-dot menu on the video, then "Copy link".
- Instagram. The paper-plane icon under the post, then "Copy link".
- Telegram. Long-press the message, then "Copy Link". Works for public channels.
- X (Twitter). The "Share" icon under the post, then "Copy link".
If the app pastes a block of text with a description instead of a bare link, find the address starting with https:// and keep only that. Skachok extracts links from pasted text on its own, so most of the time you will not even need to.
Quality and phone storage
File size depends on resolution and duration. A ten-minute YouTube video in 720p weighs roughly 100–200 MB, and in 1080p one and a half to two times more. For a phone screen 720p is enough; 1080p makes sense if you plan to watch the video on a TV or edit it.
