How to download — step by step

Copy the clip or VOD link
For a clip, click “Share” under the player → “Copy link”, or copy an address like twitch.tv/channel/clip/ClipName. For a stream recording, open the “Videos” tab on the channel, pick the VOD and copy the address twitch.tv/videos/123456789.
Tip: Short clips.twitch.tv/ClipName links from the app work too. A timestamp in a VOD address (?t=1h02m03s) is dropped — the whole video is downloaded.

Paste the link into Skachok
Paste the link into the field and click “Find”. A card appears with a preview, the title and a list of qualities — for clips usually 360p, 480p, 720p and 1080p, for VODs 1080p60 as well.
Tip: For a VOD the card shows the duration and approximate size — a multi-hour stream in 1080p60 can weigh several gigabytes; pick 720p to save space.

Pick a quality and download
Click the quality you need — a clip downloads right away, a VOD is assembled from fragments on the server and then starts downloading. The progress is shown on the card.
Tip: If you only need the stream's audio (a podcast, music, talk content), choose MP3 in the “Audio” block.

On your phone and computer
On iPhone
On iPhone, open skachok.com in Safari, paste the link and tap a quality. The file lands in “Files” → “Downloads”; to move a clip to “Photos”, open it and tap “Share” → “Save Video”. Long VODs are better left in “Files”.
On Android
On Android, in Chrome or any other browser, the file is saved to the Download folder and shows up in “Gallery” and any player. For multi-hour VODs make sure your device has enough space — the size is shown on the card before downloading.
On a computer
- Copy the address from the browser bar, paste it on skachok.com and click “Find”. The file is saved to “Downloads”.
- For 1080p and above we merge video and audio on the server — it takes from 10 seconds to a couple of minutes.
- If your player has no sound, open the file in VLC or pick another quality.
FAQ
Can I download a stream that's currently live?
No. Wait for the broadcast to end — Twitch saves the recording on the channel as a VOD (the “Videos” tab), and you can download it from the twitch.tv/videos/… link.
What quality are clips and VODs downloaded in?
Up to 1080p60 — the quality the stream ran in. We show every option Twitch serves. Without an account — up to 720p; 1080p and 1080p60 start with the Lite plan or on the Pro trial you get for signing up.
Can I download subscriber-only VODs?
No. Recordings a streamer has opened only to subs are unavailable without a subscription — we see the same thing as a regular viewer who isn't signed in. Public VODs, highlights and clips download without any problems.
How long does downloading a VOD take?
Clips are served instantly. Twitch stores VODs in fragments — we assemble them into a single MP4 on the server: an hour-long stream takes a few minutes to prepare, and the size and progress are shown on the card. No need to close the tab.
Why did the VOD disappear when it was on the channel yesterday?
Twitch keeps stream recordings for a limited time and then deletes them automatically. Download while the VOD is still visible on the channel's “Videos” tab. Highlights are kept longer than regular recordings.
Can I download just the audio?
Yes. Choose MP3 (192 kbps) in the “Audio” block — handy for talk streams and music broadcasts. Paid plans also offer M4A, OGG and FLAC.
