What actually breaks
A video download extension works simply: it reads the page code, finds the addresses of the video streams and inserts a button. The problem is that it depends on a page structure that does not belong to it.
YouTube, VK, TikTok and the other platforms change the internals of their sites several times a year: they rename fields in the player data, change how stream URLs are signed, add checks that the request comes from a real browser with a real account. For an ordinary viewer nothing changes. For an extension, every such update is a broken parser.
Then it becomes a question of reaction speed. If the video still cannot be found here
