You cannot download a video from Yandex Browser directly, for a simple reason: a browser stores nothing. The clip you are watching lives on Dzen, VK Video, Rutube or YouTube, and the browser only displays the page. So extensions and "download buttons" for the browser are not the answer. All you need is the real address of the video: paste it into Skachok and click "Download". Below: where to find that address on a computer and a phone, what to do with Yandex Video results, and what cannot be saved.
Why the browser has no "Download" button
Yandex Browser, like Chrome or Safari, is a window onto a site. The platform streams the video: the player receives short segments of a few seconds each and plays them one after another. There is no finished MP4 on the page, and "Save as" cannot capture it.
Download extensions try to collect the segments themselves, but platforms change formats regularly, and the extensions break or vanish from the store. We explained why in a separate article. Skachok does the work on a server: it takes the link, fetches the segments at the chosen quality, stitches them into one MP4 and hands it over. Where the video actually lives
Yandex Browser shows websites, while Yandex Video (yandex.ru/video) gathers clips from other platforms into its own player. In both cases the source is a specific platform. The table shows which link to copy.

Every platform in the table except the last row is downloaded by Skachok directly: Dzen, VK Video, Rutube, YouTube, Odnoklassniki. Old zen.yandex.ru addresses work too: they redirect to dzen.ru.
How to find the video link in Yandex Browser
Address bar. On a computer, open the video on its own page, click the address at the top and press Ctrl+C. If the video plays inside the feed, click its title first so the address changes to the video page. For Dzen it should contain /video/watch/ or /shorts/.
The "Share" button. Under the player or in the "···" menu every video has "Share" and "Copy link". This is the convenient way on a phone. Tails like ?share_to=link or &t=90 can stay: Skachok discards them.
The source in Yandex Video. If the address looks like yandex.ru/video/preview/…, you are inside the aggregator. Under the player Yandex names where the clip comes from and shows a "Watch on …" button. Click it: a page on Dzen, VK Video or Rutube opens, and that is the address to copy. This route always works.
The yandex.ru/video/preview/… link itself can also be pasted into Skachok: such addresses are supported in beta, some resolve to the source and some do not, and the dedicated Yandex Video page is built for them. So you can download from Yandex Video by link in two ways, and the source link is the safer bet: if the video is not found, return to the player and take the source address.
Download video from Yandex on a computer: step by step
- Open the video in Yandex Browser on its own page and copy the address from the bar or via "Share". For Yandex Video, go to the source first with "Watch on …".
- Open skachok.com in a neighbouring tab: the home page or a platform page such as Dzen.
- Paste the link into the field and click "Find". Within a few seconds a card appears with a preview, title and duration.
- Pick a quality in the "Video" block. Up to 720p is free; 1080p unlocks from the Lite plan. The "Audio" block below offers MP3 (also from Lite).
- Click "Download". On the free plan an 8-second timer runs first. For Dzen, VK and Rutube a progress bar appears while the server stitches segments; then the file lands in the browser's Downloads folder on its own.
This works in any browser with nothing to install; sign-up is optional (3 videos a day without an account, 5 with a free one).
How to save video from Yandex Browser on a phone
On a phone only the copying step and the file location differ.
Android. In Yandex Browser open the video, tap "Share" and choose "Copy link". Then open skachok.com in a new tab of the same browser, tap "Paste" next to the input field and "Find". After "Download" the file goes to the Download folder and also shows up in Yandex Browser's own download list. The gallery picks it up by itself.
iPhone. Copy the link the same way, but open Skachok in Safari so the file reliably lands in Files, under Downloads. Open the video there, tap "Share" and choose "Save video": the clip appears in Photos. More on iOS is in our iPhone download guide.
The Dzen, VK and Rutube apps. Copy the link via "Share" and "Copy link", but do not paste it into the in-app browser: downloads are often blocked there. Use the regular Yandex Browser, Chrome or Safari.

What cannot be saved
Skachok does not download:
- Kinopoisk and other paid services. Films are DRM-protected and available only by subscription; the service will not bypass that.
- Yandex Disk. It is file storage, not a video platform. If the owner opened access, Disk has its own "Download" button.
- Paid courses and closed videos. Subscriber-only clips, private VK videos and deleted videos are unavailable.
- Live streams. Only the recording after the broadcast ends.
- Some videos inside Dzen articles. A clip embedded in text that does not open on its own
/video/watch/page cannot always be found.
