You cannot download a video from Twitter, now called X, through the app itself. The "Share" button offers to send the post to a messenger or copy the link, but not to save the file. Yet X is full of clips that exist nowhere else: live coverage of events, edits, official announcements. Below is a method that needs no software: copy the post link, paste it into Skachok and get an MP4 up to 1080p. It works on iPhone, Android and desktop.
Why X has no "Save" button
X is built as a feed of short posts, and a video is always part of a post. The platform stores each clip in several quality variants and serves the player whichever one fits the connection speed. There is no direct file link in the interface, and the app has no download function. Even the account owner cannot get their own video back in its original form.
This used to be solved with browser extensions. After the move to the x.com domain and several API changes, most of the old extensions stopped working. A service that parses the link on its own side does not depend on such changes: when the platform changes something, one server is updated rather than thousands of installed copies.
Another advantage of the online method: it works the same on a computer, iPhone and Android. You do not need to hunt for a separate app for each system and grant it access to your files.
Which links the service understands
A link to an X post looks different depending on where you copied it from. Skachok accepts all the main variants:

It is important to copy the link to a specific post, not to the author's profile or the feed. If the video is posted in a reply to another post, tap the reply itself to open it separately and copy the address from there.
How to download a video from X by link
The steps are the same on any device.
- Open the post with the video. On a computer copy the address from the browser bar. In the app tap the "Share" icon under the post and choose "Copy link".
- Go to the X (Twitter) page in Skachok and paste the link into the field.
- Click "Find". The service shows a card with a thumbnail, duration and the list of available qualities.
- Pick the resolution you need. If you only want the sound, open the "Audio" block and choose MP3.
- Click "Download". The file is saved to your browser's downloads.

On a phone: iPhone and Android
In the X app on a phone there is one route: the "Share" icon under the post, then "Copy link". Then open your browser, paste the link into Skachok and download.
On Android the file goes to the "Download" folder. The gallery usually picks up the MP4 by itself; otherwise open it through the "Files" app.

Video, GIFs and quality
X re-encodes everything creators upload. Even if the source was 4K, the platform stores it at 1080p at most. So the quality list in Skachok is shorter than for YouTube: a few options, the top one depending on what the author uploaded.
- Resolutions up to 720p are free.
- 1080p, if the author uploaded the video in Full HD, unlocks on the Lite plan for $1.99 a month (99 ₽ in Russia).
GIFs are a separate story. What looks like a GIF on X is actually a short looped silent video in MP4. That is why these "GIFs" are small and never stutter. Skachok delivers them as an MP4 file. If you need a real animated GIF, convert the file after downloading in any editor.
The service adds no watermarks. The file is exactly what the X player shows.
If you only need the sound, say from a recorded interview or podcast, pick MP3 in the "Audio" block. The server extracts the track at 192 kbps, and you do not have to download the video.
Several posts at once
When you want to save a whole thread with videos or a selection from your bookmarks, you do not have to repeat the steps for each post. Paste the links into the field one per line and click "Find". The service picks out addresses even from text with comments, so you can copy the list straight from your notes.
After the search each post gets its own card, and a "Download all videos" button appears above them. The number of links per batch depends on the plan: 3 free, 5 on Lite, 10 on Pro, 50 on Max. The browser asks once for permission to download multiple files; grant it.
What cannot be downloaded
There are a few situations where the service will honestly reply that the video was not found.
- Protected account. Posts from profiles with a lock are visible only to followers the author approved. The service cannot see them.
- Deleted or hidden post. If the author removed the post or the platform restricted it, the link leads nowhere.
- A live broadcast. Live streams cannot be downloaded while they are running.
- A post with a YouTube link. Sometimes a post embeds not the video itself but a link to another platform. In that case copy the link to the original and paste that. Skachok supports 25+ platforms, YouTube among them.
- Sensitive content. Posts with that label are shown by the platform only after signing in, and such videos may not be found.

Do I need to sign in to my X account to download a video?

Why is there no 4K or 1440p in the list?
