How to Download Video from a Telegram Channel by Link

You can download a video from Telegram without Premium, without third-party bots and without digging through the app's cache. All you need is a post link like t.me/channel/123: paste it into Skachok, get a regular MP4 and save it wherever you like. The method works with public channels on both phone and computer. Below we cover where to find the right link, why it beats the "Save to Gallery" button, what quality to expect and why some posts cannot be downloaded.

Why use a website when Telegram has its own button

Telegram has built-in ways to save a clip, but each comes with a catch.

On a phone, "Save to Gallery" only works if the channel owner has not restricted saving content. If they have, the button simply is not there, and screenshots are blocked. On a computer, Telegram Desktop has "Save As", but the video first has to fully load into the cache and only then gets copied to a file.

The main problem is speed. For accounts without Premium, Telegram throttles media downloads. A 500 MB video can crawl for several minutes, and on a weak connection the download breaks and starts over. Skachok fetches the file from its own servers and hands it to you as a normal browser download. Telegram's throttle does not apply; the speed depends on your Skachok plan: about 1 MB/s on Free and unlimited on Max.

Another plus: you do not need Telegram on the device at all. A friend can send you the link in another messenger, and you can download the video on a work computer where Telegram is not installed.

Which links work

Skachok understands links to a specific post in a public channel. They look like this:

• https://t.me/channel/123 is the standard message link;
• https://telegram.me/channel/123 is the old domain and works the same way;
• https://t.me/channel/123?single points to one video from an album.

The link must contain the channel name and the message number. A link to the channel alone (t.me/channel) will not do: the service has no way of knowing which of hundreds of posts you want.

Links to private channels and groups do not work. They are easy to spot: instead of a channel name the address has t.me/c/ followed by a long number, or it is an invite link with a plus sign, t.me/+…. How to copy a post link

On a phone. Open the channel, tap and hold the message with the video. Choose "Copy Link" from the menu. If the video is part of an album with several clips, Telegram offers to copy a link to the whole album or to a single file; pick the single file.

On a computer. Right-click the message and choose "Copy Message Link". In Telegram Web the link is copied the same way through the message menu.

If someone sent you the link. It is usually already in the right form; just make sure there is a post number after the channel name.

Step by step: download a Telegram video on phone or PC

1. Copy the post link as described above.
2. Open Skachok in your browser. Use Safari on iPhone and Chrome or any other browser on Android. Avoid Telegram's built-in browser: it does not always know how to save files.
3. Paste the link into the field and click "Find". After a couple of seconds a card with a preview and the channel name appears.
4. In the "Video" block, tap MP4. On the free plan an 8-second timer runs before the download, then the file starts saving.
5. On Android the file goes to the Download folder, and the gallery picks it up automatically. On iPhone it ends up in Files → Downloads; to move it to Photos, open the video, tap "Share" and choose "Save Video".

What quality you get

Telegram does not keep several versions of one video the way YouTube does. A post holds exactly one file, and you get it as is. That is why a Telegram video card on Skachok usually shows a single MP4 option rather than a ladder of 360p, 720p and 1080p.

The quality itself depends on how the author uploaded the clip. When sent "as video", Telegram compresses the file and caps the resolution at 1080p. If the author sent it "as file", it is stored untouched, so you may even get 4K, but such posts are rare. Either way you receive the same copy the channel's subscribers see, with no extra quality loss.

Several videos at once

If the video is not found

A few common reasons a card does not appear.

• The channel is private. Links like t.me/c/… and t.me/+… cannot be downloaded; that is a Telegram restriction.
• Content protection is on. If the author has disabled saving, Telegram will not release the file to the app or to any outside service.
• The post has no video. The link may lead to text, a photo or a post with a preview of an external site. In the last case, paste the link to that site instead: Skachok supports more than 25 platforms.
• The post was deleted or the channel renamed. The old link then leads nowhere; ask for a fresh one.
• The link has no post number. Add the message number after the channel name.

Do I need Telegram Premium to download a video from a channel?

No. Skachok fetches the file itself, so the speed throttle for non-Premium accounts does not apply. You do not even need Telegram installed on the device; only the post link is required.

Can I download a video from a private channel or chat?

No. Posts in private channels (t.me/c/…) and behind invite links (t.me/+…) are not accessible from outside. Only public channels with an open username work.
