How to Download a Video from a Telegram Channel

In Telegram, videos from channels are only saved to the app cache, and on a free account downloads are often slow. Skachok downloads videos from public channels and posts from a t.me link — as a regular MP4 file, without the messenger's speed limits.

How to download — step by step

    Copy the post link

    In the channel, tap the message with the video (right-click on a computer) → “Copy link”. You get an address like t.me/channel/123, where channel is the channel name and 123 is the post number.

    Tip: Only public channels with a @channel username have links. If there is no “Copy link” item in the menu, or the address looks like t.me/c/…, the channel is private and can't be downloaded from.

    Paste the link into Skachok

    Paste the address into the field on the home page and click “Find”. We show a preview and the options: MP4 in original quality and MP3.

    Tip: If the post is an album of several videos, each file has its own link in the app (ending in ?single). Copy the link to the video you need and paste it as it is.

    Download the MP4

    Pick an option and click “Download”. The file goes to your Downloads folder. Without an account — 3 downloads a day, with a free account — 5, and signing up gives you 2 days of Pro as a gift.

    Tip: Telegram stores the video exactly as the author uploaded it — we serve that file without re-encoding.

Why download videos from Telegram

Telegram is a great messenger but a poor file host: videos hide in the cache, and downloads crawl on a free account.

On iPhone

In Safari, paste the link and tap “Download”. The file is saved to Files → Downloads; from there, “Share” → “Save Video” puts it in Photos.

On Android

In Chrome the MP4 goes to the Downloads folder and shows up in your gallery.

On a computer

  • Copy the address from the browser bar, paste it on skachok.com and click “Find”. The file is saved to “Downloads”.
  • For 1080p and above we merge video and audio on the server — it takes from 10 seconds to a couple of minutes.
  • If your player has no sound, open the file in VLC or pick another quality.

FAQ

Can I download from a private channel or chat?
No. Skachok only sees what Telegram shows without signing in — public channels with a t.me/name address. Private channels (t.me/c/…, t.me/+…), groups and personal chats are not supported.
How do I download a video from a group or from the comments under a post?
Not possible yet: downloading only works for posts in public channels. If the video is in the channel itself rather than in the discussion, use the post link.
What quality do I get?
The quality the author uploaded to the channel: Telegram serves the original file and we don't re-encode it. Videos above 720p are available on Lite and above.
Can I download only the audio?
Yes — MP3 in the “Audio” block. Handy for podcasts and lectures posted as video.
Why does the service say “not found”?
Check that the link opens in a browser without signing in to Telegram: the t.me/channel/number page should show the post with a preview. If Telegram only shows an “Open in app” button with no content, the channel is private or marked 18+, and its content isn't served publicly.
Is there a speed limit?
No Telegram limits — our server fetches the file first, then serves it to you. The download speed depends on your plan: about 1 MB/s on Free, 3 MB/s on Lite, 5 MB/s on Pro and unlimited on Max.
