Downloading a Pinterest video by link is easier than it looks: Pinterest has no "Save to device" button for video pins, but the player uses direct links to the files. What you can download from Pinterest
A pin is a card that can hold an image, an animation or a video. Skachok detects the content type from the link and offers the matching option:
- video pins — MP4 with sound, in the qualities the author uploaded (usually up to 1080p);
- GIFs — the source file as Pinterest stores it: an animated image or a short MP4;
- images — JPG or PNG at the original resolution, not the downscaled copy shown in the feed;
- Idea Pins (multi-slide pins) — the videos and images from the card.
Pinterest does not stamp a watermark on videos, so the file comes out clean: no logo and no author handle. We deliver the same file the player shows in the feed.
Private ("secret") boards and pins visible only to you cannot be downloaded: the service sees Pinterest as a logged-out user.
Which link you need
All the main address formats work:
pinterest.com/pin/1234567890/— the full pin link from a browser;ru.pinterest.com/pin/…or any other country subdomain — the same thing;pin.it/AbCdEf— the short link from the "Share" button in the app.
The service expands short pin.it links itself, nothing needs fixing. What matters is that the link points to a specific pin, not to a board, a profile or a search page: you cannot download "everything at once" from a board, only pin by pin.
If you opened a pin from the feed and the address bar shows no /pin/…, click the pin once more so it opens on its own page, and copy the address from there.
Step by step on a computer
- Open the pin on Pinterest. Make sure the address contains
/pin/followed by a number. - Copy the link from the address bar.
- Open the Pinterest page in Skachok and paste the link into the field. Click "Find".
- In the card, choose an option: video quality in the "Video" block or the picture in the images block.
- Click "Download". The file is saved to your browser's Downloads folder.
Pinterest video is served directly, with no processing on the server, so the download starts right away. On the free plan an 8-second timer is shown before the download.
How to download from Pinterest on a phone
Most people use Pinterest on a phone, and there are a couple of things to know.
Get the link. In the app, open the pin, tap the three dots or the "Share" icon, then "Copy link". You get an address like pin.it/….
Android. Open Skachok in Chrome, paste the link, pick the quality and download. The video appears in the Download folder and in the gallery.
iPhone. Open Skachok in Safari. The downloaded file goes to Files → Downloads. To move the video to Photos, open it in Files, tap "Share" and choose "Save Video". Images Safari offers to save straight to Photos.
Do not paste the link in the browser built into the Pinterest app: it opens pages but may not let you save the file. Use regular Safari or Chrome.
GIFs: why you sometimes get an MP4
Pinterest stores animation in two ways. Old GIFs are kept as GIF files. Newer animated pins are more often transcoded by the platform into a short silent video, which uses less bandwidth. Skachok offers the format the pin is actually stored in.
If you need a real GIF file for a messenger or a website but got an MP4, you can convert it with any online converter or editor. The reverse also happens: a downloaded GIF may appear as a still image in your phone's gallery, but it will animate once you send it in Telegram or WhatsApp.
Quality and limits
Video pins are rarely longer than a couple of minutes and are almost always small, so the free plan limits usually do not get in the way on Pinterest:
- 3 downloads a day without signing up, 5 on a free account;
- quality up to 720p;
- speed around 1 MB/s;
- 3 links at a time.
If the author uploaded the video in 1080p and you need that exact version, you will need the Lite plan for $1.99 a month (99 ₽ in Russia). If the pin cannot be found
- The link points to a board or a profile. Open the specific pin and copy its address.
- The pin was deleted or hidden. Check whether the link opens in an incognito window.
- Secret board. Pins from secret boards are unavailable without signing in, so they cannot be downloaded.
- The video is embedded from another site. Some pins link to YouTube or Vimeo. Copy the link to the source video and paste that instead: Skachok supports both platforms.
