How to Download Videos, GIFs and Photos from Tumblr

How to download — step by step

    Copy the post link

    In the Tumblr app, tap the “Share” icon (paper plane) under the post → “Copy link”. On the website, click the “…” icon in the corner of the post → “Copy link”, or open the post and copy the address from the browser bar.

    Tip: The link must point to a specific post, not the whole blog — the address contains a long numeric ID, for example tumblr.com/blogname/731234567890123456.

    Paste the link into Skachok

    Tip: A GIF is saved as an animation — on iPhone it opens in Photos and keeps moving, and it is sent to messengers as a regular GIF.

On iPhone

In Safari, paste the link and tap “Download”. The file lands in Files → Downloads. To get a video or GIF into Photos, open the file and tap “Share” → “Save Video” or “Save Image”.

On Android

In Chrome, files are saved to the Downloads folder and show up in your gallery. A GIF opens as an animation in any viewer.

On a computer

  • Copy the address from the browser bar, paste it on skachok.com and click “Find”. The file is saved to “Downloads”.
  • For 1080p and above we merge video and audio on the server — it takes from 10 seconds to a couple of minutes.
  • If your player has no sound, open the file in VLC or pick another quality.

FAQ

Can I download from a private blog or a blog marked 18+?
No. We only work with public posts. Blogs hidden by privacy settings or requiring a login to view are not supported.
What format is a GIF saved in?
As a regular .gif file at its original size, with animation. If Tumblr stores the GIF as a short video (which happens with large files), you get an MP4.
Is there a watermark?
No. Tumblr doesn't watermark files — you get the original the author uploaded.
Can I download only the audio from a video?
Yes — choose MP3 in the “Audio” block.
What about reblogs and reposts from other platforms?
A reblog contains the same file as the original — you can download it from a link to either one. If the post is an embedded video from YouTube or another platform, copy the link to the source video and paste that instead.
What quality are the videos?
The quality the author uploaded, usually up to 1080p. Without an account you get up to 720p; 1080p is available on Lite and above.
